why is it that last semester i had approximately 2 finals and NO WORK during finals week but this semester i am stuck with 9 papers that i still have to write? i guess there were fewer classes last semester, but still, the amount of extra work is not proportionate. no sir. the influx of laziness on my part could possibly be the explanation for that, but still. not fair! the work to be finished is as follows:
1 screenplay 7 pages (due tomorrow)
1 take-home final 10 pages (due Tuesday)
1 term paper 8 pages (due Friday)
1 media ethnography 15 pages (due yesterday)
3 response papers 15 pages total (due Monday, but severely overdue)
1 position paper 4 pages? (due Friday, but really February)
1 events essay 5 pages (due Friday)
1 field-trip report 2 pages? (due Monday, but really April 26th)
so somewhere i miscalculated, what i thought was 9 papers is really 10. GO ME! in total it's about 55 pages, give or take. can that count as my senior project? can i be done? that'd be fantastic. well, i'm excited because the people playing loud music in the room next to me just left, so now i can work, instead of wasting time updating my livejournal with my pathetic attempt at reaching summer. bye now, goodbye. |

exactly a week ago things changed and got really weird, in the best possible way. i'm not sure exactly what's happening and i don't want to mess things up by saying something too soon. but i've had a really good week and hopefully things will work out this time. struggling to figure out what is different from a couple weeks ago. was that a test? a test to see if i was serious? well, i am. so there you have it. there is nothing in this world i could possibly want more right now.
on a side note, it was terrible having to leave school today and come home for the weekend. it doesn't even make sense. to top things off, i have an awful cold right now. i've been coughing and sneezing all day. cheers to some airborne. gross. |

so i went into my internship today, and i had to run something across the street. I entered the elevator on the fourth floor where our greenrooms our, and it stopped at the second floor where the martha show is taped. the door opened and suzanne somers came on the elevator. suzanne fucking somers. she was literally standing inches away from me, im pretty sure our shoulders touched at one point. so suzanne somers was talking to her entourage in the elevator about how she saw the same stage manager from the martha show on the tony danza show last year. i just wanted to be like, do you know who you are? you're SUZANNE SOMERS! OH MY GOD! and boy, was she wrinkled. i was thinking about it, and not only did i think it was stupid that she couldn't walk the solitary flight of stairs down to her escalade that was waiting outside, but i also thought this: you may be suzanne somers, but at least i have my youth. ahhhhhhh crazy
im so tired. oh yeah, and i got a job at victoria's secret--yaaaaaaaaaay! i start sunday. tomorrow's the last day of taping for the judge maria lopez show. time for bed. |

Dear Amazon,
I placed this order today, September 18th, not more than 5 hours ago, and realized that it is being sent to the wrong address. Because I picked the super saver shipping method, the book will not be sent to me until the first week of October. I tried to change the shipping address, and was unable to do so online. I know that this is possible, because I have had to do the same thing before. I also know that I should be able to cancel the order at this point in the process. I was told by the person at the help phone number that neither of these things are possible because it has already been sent to UPS. I find this very hard to believe since I will not be receiving this item for another 2 weeks. If it is not being sent for another 2 weeks, I need to cancel the order. If I am not able to cancel the order, than it better be sent long before October 2nd (the estimated delivery date). If this order has already been sent to UPS, then I should be receiving it within days, instead of weeks. No matter where I am in the continental United States, the order could not possibly take more than 5 days to reach me, especially when the order is a single paperback book.
I am a student who does not have much money to work with, which is why I use this service, I get good prices on books and can usually count on them to be here in a reasonable amount of time. I do not currently have the money to just go out and buy the book again and have it shipped here while I wait for the refund to come through for the book that is being sent to the wrong address, something which will probably take close to a month.

this is basically just a rant. so don't really worry too much if you can't follow whats going on. i was staying, for a brief period of time this summer, with my uncle's friend Kathleen. it's not really my uncle, it's the man who married my aunt and turned her into a human being who lacks any sense of being the cool or fun person that she once was. but i was staying there because i was babysitting my cousin for them all summer. doing them a HUGE favor, seeing as i was being paid slave wages for a job that i should have been getting upwards of fifteen dollars per hour for.
the entire time i have stayed with this woman, i tried to make it seem like i wasn't even there. i did my own dishes so that she wouldn't have to run the dishwasher more, i bought my own food, i usually stayed in my designated living area while i was there. i was basically the ideal houseguest, if i do say so myself.
one night, while Kathleen was out of town, i had a friend over. we kinda got locked out on the back deck and had to have the upstairs tenant let us back into the apartment. this is something that would have happened regardless of whether or not there was a guest over. when Kathleen came back from her trip on monday, i felt it only right to let her know that i had been locked out and that i had a friend stay the night. she appeared to have no real problem with the fact that i had a friend over, and was more concerned with the fact that the locks were messed up and we hadn't been able to get back in. then she told my uncle about it and that it really bothered her (she has EVERY right to be bothered) but my uncle does not proceed to say something to me, he tells my aunt who calls me up when i have mono and have been sleeping and ambushes me saying
"i can't believe you did this and deliberately didn't tell me or your uncle. this rule was specifically discussed that you were not allowed to have guests (no, it wasn't actually) and i feel that before we can settle up this summer, you need to write a letter of apology to your uncle and to kathleen. and you also need to write her a thank you letter because i talked to her and she said you didn't. (one- thank you letters should not be expected, but appreciated when they are given. two- i was going to write a very nice handwritten one and send it in the mail, so fuck you) we also have to have a serious talk before you go back to school because i've tried to before but we never finished it (because she yelled at me and gave me a panic attack) oh yeah, i'm reallly glad the doctor said you can go back to school, congratulations, love you, bye."
"bye"
this phone call was followed minutes later by a phone call from my aunt to my mother which expressed her frustration with the fact that i had not said i love you on the phone and the declaration: "i am not her mother, i did not sign on for this attitude"
so, my hard-earned summer cash, which is not going to be NEARLY as much as it should be, is being held hostage until i write three letters--one will be a thank you/apology letter to Kathleen, one will be an apology letter to my uncle (which i will have to fight pretty hard to keep from saying what i really want to) and one will be a thank you letter to my aunt for taking me to the doctor while i was sick (even though she yelled at me in the car again on the way back, that's right yelled at me while i was dying) and although i know she did not specifically state that this third letter was necessary, i get the distinct feeling that if it is not written, i will never see my money and this summer will be even more of a waste than it would have been anyway.
i will write these letters, but i will not do it happily. and i will write them with tact. they will satisfy the aforementioned stipulations, they will be completely polite and to the point, but they will not be heartfelt and they will provide my aunt with the only thing she really deserves, a hollow victory. because i will not say in any of the letters the words "i'm sorry" or "thank you for showing me the way this summer, i have seen what an awful, deviant life i have been living and now is as good a time as any to do what i should--that is everything adults tell me, because although i am nearly 20 years old, i am still as much of a child as a kid on his first day of preschool."
i can't wait until i'm back at purchase and can possibly be considered an adult again. that will be woooooooooonderful. |

so yeah waking up sucks. especially when you fell asleep watching bad porn at 1:30am and just woke up at 5am. now i have to pack all of my stuff because i am going to east aurora in precisely one hour--correction, 49 minutes. ok. must pack dirty clothes first, this will avoid having to do my own laundry as i can easily convince my mother that it is not in her best interests to trust me with my own clothes. yes. pack laundry. then pack clothes to wear. then pack clothes to leave in my storage unit as i have absolutely NO use for a Columbia fleece in 98 degree weather. ok so, once i pack all of this, i should be good. so home until tuesday probably. best case scenario is that i return well-rested with a tan from sitting out in the sun as that is all there is to do in olean. mmmm i will also be a few pounds heavier due to the massive amounts of hot fries i will eat. hot friiiiiiiiiiies, mmmmmmmmm. ok, right then, let's get to packing. hasta luego new york city, you haven of evil. |

so apparently i am moving into an actual freaking house in harlem and it will be amazing. a newly renovated brownstone with a room and bathroom all to myself, a kitchen and washer/dryer i can use and all the ammenities including highly filtered water (boiled then brita then pitcher with lime slices). i have TiVo and cable and lions and tigers and bears oh my. i don't really know how to express the level of excitement on finding out that my new housemate is actually sane and should be easy enough to live with. incredible is the correct discription for all of this. yes, incredible indeed. more to come....
sidenote-ella and i were walking to the park today and stumbled onto the set of Rescue Me, a popular TNT show i believe. ella wants to be a firefighter when she grows up so this was an incredible stroke of luck for her as a firefighter/actor who plays one on tv (four-year-olds don't know the difference) approached us on the sidewalk and introduced himself to her, told me how cute she was and walked off to his trailer. the actor turned out to be one of the main guys from the show, Franco Rivera and his real name is Daniel Sunjata, fairly famous for his work on broadway and in The Devil Wears Prada. interesting.
so yeah that was my day and now i need desperately to go to bed because i have to walk up at the asscrack of dawn tomorrow, aka 8am. so it's more like the slender thigh of dawn. |

i hate packing all my stuff again and again and again. it would be one thing if i were going home, but no, im just moving to harlem. but first im moving in with my wretched relatives for a couple days. so i will be there until probably monday, then on monday i'm moving up to 132nd st. yes, harlem. i will be there for about a month and then guess what time it is? time to move back to purchase--but first, i have to move all of my stuff out of the apartment on 132nd st. and get all my stuff from my storage unit back home and then move them into my apartment on campus. nothing spells fun like the fact that when i arrive at any one of these new destinations i won't be able to locate any of the things i need. i'm sick of nyc and i want to go home, simply put. |

I'm getting ready to go to the lake for a fun filled day of being sober and impressing family with how nice of a young lady i am. There is also the posibility that i will be waterskiing and/or riding on a tube tied to the back of the boat (not sure if there's a name for that though). either way, it should prove to be a fun day...
according to wikipedia, chautauqua is loosely translated as 'bag tied in the middle' as the lake has a narrow section in the middle. |
